Cookout and Scavenger!
Week One: June 14-18 - "Destination Vacation!"
"No more teachers, no more books . . ." it’s all about the Summer Vacation! Join in for a fun filled summer where the destination is all about vacation. We kick off the summer using our imaginations and creating your dream vacation. Then it is off to suitcase races, postcard designs, poolside fun and design your own summer scrapbook.
Week Two: June 21-25 - "Express Yourself!"
Be an actress or stage hand! What does it take to put on a play both onstage and backstage? Act out a scene or get behind the scenes to make a production. Create stage lighting and sound effects, build a set and create costumes. Put the performance together and take the stage with teaching artists. Come and see the Roanoke’s Children’s Theatre, entertain your family as you make a performance of a lifetime.
Week Three: June 28-July 2 "A Pirate’s Life for Me!"
Ahoy Matey! Jump aboard to sail through the sea and learn to use a compass. Design your own Jolly Roger and ship as you follow the treasure map to find the Ultimate Treasure. After the treasure is found make your own treasure chest to keep your loot in.
Week Four: July 5-July 9 (Center is Closed)
Week Five: July 12-July 16 "Life is a Highway"
Roll into our week of trains, planes, cars and more. Start the week with a visit to the Museum of Transportation. Delve into a week full of visits from various types of transportation such as, The Motor Mile Speedway, Blacksburg Transit and Norfolk and Southern.
Week Six: July 19-July 23 "Fun and Fitness!"
Endurance, strength and conditioning are the way to begin any fun and fitness week. Special visits from Virginia Tech football members, Abbotts Tae-Kwan-Do America, Virginia Tech Track and Field team and join in the fun of learning Yoga.
Week Seven: July 26-July 30 "Bon Appétit"
During this week of cooking fun, we will be working on making and designing your own cake, write your own cookbook, create spoon puppets, pizza making contests and visit with a local chef. Come and see what other tasty ideas are in store!
Week Eight: August 2-August 6 "Game Show Mania"
Wheel of Fortune, Press your Luck, Jeopardy, Fear Factor and Survivor will all take place on the Enrichment Center Island. Stay tuned as we have Wii Tournaments and win BIG!
Week Nine: August 9-August 13 "Enchanted Week"
Off we go into the days of jousting and feasts! Who wouldn’t want to compete in chariot races and build dream castles? Join the fun as we invent our very own crests, crowns and armor.
Week Ten: August 16-August 20 "Ready, Set Invent"
Use your imagination and inventive thinking to design and build your own inventions. What can you make with magnets, pipes, and clothespins? How do things fit together? What does it do? Let your imagination run wild as you think the unthinkable, create new possibilities and discover solutions as we visit the Department of Enginering at Virginia Tech.
